Our role involved full project delivery from concept and technical design, through to procurement and project management
We were approached by our client to enlarge the house to accommodate their growing family and create a forever home. During the initial briefing and design phase, we raised the subject of efficiency and our client embraced the opportunity to make the house more energy efficient.
The scheme has developed into a deep retrofit; upgrading the thermal efficiency of the floors, walls and roof; detailing the airtightness of the property, ensuring that it is as airtight as possible; installing mechanical ventilation and heat recovery systems and installing underfloor heating, coupled with air source heat pump and all powered by solar panels.
Using Passivehaus software, we have calculated that the house will not only become 67% larger, but it will also reduce its annual energy usage by 27%
We are very excited to see this house progress through the build and to completion and beyond, where we will be monitoring its energy efficiency and overall performance.
